First Night Boston 2023

First Night Boston returns to Copley Square and Boston Common from Friday, December 30, 2022 – Sunday,
January 1, 2023 with live music, artistic performances, ice sculptures, and fireworks. The music and
programming will begin on Friday, December 30, in Copley Square from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., and continue again
on Saturday, December 31, 2022 from 12:00 p.m. – Sunday, January 1, 2023 at 12:30 a.m. and Sunday, January
1, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. On December 31, The “First Night Boston Parade” will run down Boylston
Street from Copley Square to Boston Common at 6:00 p.m. and family fireworks presented by the Mugar
Foundation will take place at 7:00 p.m. above Boston Common.
On the 31st, performances will also occur within the Boston Public Library, and several of the area’s churches
will host indoor concerts. As we build up for the new year, music will continue with a “Copley Countdown”
through the evening in Copley Square, with illuminated ice sculptures, music, and a laser show. A pyrotechnics
show will begin at midnight from the roof of the Fairmont Copley Hotel. New for this year, the main stage will
move from in front of Trinity Church to in front of Boston Public Library.
Parking restrictions will be in place on the streets surrounding Copley Square on December 31, and Dartmouth
Street between St. James and Boylston will be closed for extended periods of time on December 30, 31, and
January 1.

PUBLIC SAFETY: First Night Boston will adhere to all current city and state safety precautions as
it relates to COVID-19. If city and state recommendations are adjusted as the
New Year draws closer, First Night Boston will similarly adjust its guidelines to
comply with those set by governing bodies. Mask wearing will be encouraged at
outdoor events for those who are unvaccinated. Public safety guidance will be
shared with the public as it is announced and will be determined in partnership
with Boston public safety agencies.

PERFORMANCES: An array of local and out-of-town performances will take to multiple
venues across Boston’s Back Bay, and will be a sparking reflection of
the communities they represent. From classical to country, hip-hop to
acoustic, organ concerts and figure skating routines, the best of Boston
will be on display.
