City of Boston-Covid 19 update 12.14.20

December 14, 2020

Good Afternoon,

Mayor Walsh announced today that the City of Boston will return to Phase Two, Step Two effective this Wednesday, December 16.  Boston will be joined by Arlington, Brockton, Lynn, Melrose, Newton, Somerville, and Winthrop in implementing this rollback, which will last for at least 3 weeks.

This decision will impact an array of businesses, including gyms, health clubs, movie theaters, museums, aquariums, indoor athletic facilities, sightseeing tours, indoor historical spaces, indoor event spaces, and all gaming arcades.  Indoor gatherings in private and public areas, including hotels, will be capped at 10 people, while outdoor venues may welcome up to 25 people.

The Mayor’s decision was triggered primarily by two metrics: a rising positive test rate and occupied ICU beds in Boston.  Please stay vigilant and continue to adopt and comply with mitigation measures.  Please visit the Mayor’s Press Room for a full review of today’s announcement.
